The two pictures below show our cable railing at the loft. It's 1 1/2" galvanized pipe for the posts and top (from Cincinnati Pipe Supply), and the connection fittings (T's, floor flanges, and wall flanges) are Speedrail components made by Hollaender in Cincinnati, but we had to purchase them online through Wagner in Illinois for the best price. The cables, tensioners (turnbuckles), eye bolts, and cable are all stock components from any home improvement warehouse. We bought ours at Lowe's. I cleaned the galvanized pipe by lighting sanding it and wiping it down with paint thinner. We drilled the holes in the posts for the cables 3 3/4" apart with a drill press attachment to our corded hammer drill. The cable is coated cable - I think it was 1/8". I believe each cable has a 150 lb tensile capacity and there are 8 cables. Of course, we had planned for plenty of blocking in the walls prior to drywall. The cables attach directly to the wood blocking through the drywall. The floor flanges for the posts are lag bolted through the floor and the end truss below. This baby's not going anywhere. Kenny and I both pushed, pulled, and yanked on the top rail as much as we could and it didn't budge. The cables are also very tight - and have a nice sound when strummed too (just kidding).

Drive and Railing
Here is a pic of the driveway grade completed. We are hoping to have concrete forms in for this area this weekend.
